Cleaning Up - Article featured in The Sentinel (24 May 2010)
Environmental engineering specialist Dustcheck is aiming to more than double its turnover in the next five years.
The Fenton-based firm manufactures dust extraction and filtration equipment and hopes a move into export will boost its sales even futher.
Managing director Ed Spires said the company, which currently employs 19 people, has taken on two extra employees in the last year and is now looking to recruit a new draughtsman.
Mr Spires said Dustcheck's machines can be used in a huge range of manufacturing processes.
He said: "Many of the products you eat and use in every day life will have been filtered using one of our machines, from chocolate to soap powder and from biscuits to baking powder."
Mr Spires said the company has been affected by the recession but added that he is now aiming for growth.
He said: "The downturn has hit us, but only in terms of slowing growth and we're now looking to progress."
Dustcheck currently turns over £2.3 million and directors are projecting that total to increase over the next five years to reach £5 million.
Mr Spires said: "We are aiming to move into export which is an almost totally untapped area for us."
